Degaje´
Degaje´is a Haitian Creole word that means “we’ll make it work.” This is the chorus of the song.
Higgs Field
A song that brings together alchemy, the Higgs Boson particle, facilitation and friendship; with a little help from Rumi.
Let Yourself Be Carried
Open C tuning, solo voice and guitar.
The words in the Chorus came to me as a gift.
The verses follow water from a mountain spring down through to the marshlands and the sea.
Sometimes you need to stop what you are doing and let someone carry you.
Just This Day
Funky philosophical groove written while I was teaching a comparative religion class at a community college that was a long drive away from home. Lots of time for composing.
Since Yesterday
Inspired by seeing the same Mobil gas station as I driving between Eureka and Berkeley California and then back home again. Something had changed during the weekend of playing music with friends, and somethings just stayed the same.
Tell Me Something Easy
This song was a gift from many jam sessions.
Buffet Car
Based on a story when I was 18 years old and taking a British Rails train to Great Yarmouth on the North Sea where I had a summer job of being a laborer in an oil drilling rig pipe repair shop. My father wanted to get me out of the house.
Good To Remember
What to remember, what to forget, when it’s time to move on?
Lead guitar by Jon Lindahl.
Along the Way
Written in memory of Richard Chagnon.
Noah Peterson on sax, Jon Lindahl on lead guitar.
In the Silence
A chant about a broken open heart looking for a way back home after losing a loved one.
Miss Tripped n Tippy
A love song early in marriage when we both were looking for a way to keep our friendships alive as we developed our own relationship.
Don’t Think That’s A Good Idea
Featuring Noah Peterson on soprano saxophone. A chorus still looking for verses.
I’ll Be Okay
What’s it going to take for me to be OK?
Lead guitar and awesome harmonies by Dave Irwin.
Cat Scratchin’
Inspired by my cat scratching on a wooden crate.
Teaching My Children
Written for a Bob Franke songwriting class. I wanted to write a protest song that wasn’t preachy. He said think about your children.
History Shows That
A song for my young children when I was a young Dad.
Forgetful
With Dave Irwin on second guitar and vocals. A true story and some of it really happened.
Be Love for You
Skip a round flat stone and I watch it dance.
Then There Was
A seductive little song; bossa nova will do that to you.
The One I Love
A wedding song for good friends in their backyard.
As I Grow Older
Words by Lewis Richmond
